ROTC was a way for me to do my favorite sport and to see most of my friends. I found out that it was more fun than I thought it would be. Getting to see all my friends every day and hang out with them on the weekends and just at the other fun events that we have. ROTC has become a way of life because I have become so involved in the special teams and with the companies I was in and staff.
With orienteering and rifle team, I was able to do all the things I love, run in the woods and camp as well as shoot. With orienteering, I was able to hang out with my friends from our school as well as from other schools and other states. I was excited to get to camp and see my friends. With rifle team, I could learn and actually get to shoot. It helped as a stress reliever and just to pass time.
Getting to see all of my friends is great. I have gotten to know a lot of people and I am still really close to the ones that have graduated. Getting to know other cadets is also a great way to help with being shy. I feel comfortable around people I know and can trust.
Being in ROTC has helped me stop fighting with my sister and keeping me busy so I'm not getting in any trouble with my classes or parents.
