In 2011 JetBlue started non-stop flights from New York to Romana - Dominican Republic which was the first Latin American destination since 2002 it also become the fifth target destination of the airline. Similarly, the company confirmed that in December of the same year it would start operating with two daily direct services from San Juan to St. Thomas and St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands, this services became the number 68 and 69 destinations of the organization. JeyBlue also kicks off his twelfth flight that departs from San Juan.
In March they entered into agreements with the LAN airline, which allowed peruvian, equator and argentine users of this airline to connect with about 55 cities of the United States. They also signed an agreement with Airbus for the purchase of 40 new A32 aircrafts by a sum of $3466 dollars, in the same way, they requested the change of 30 A320 aircrafts.
In the first quarter 2012 the american airline increased their profits telfond, reaching $30 million compared to the $3 million they had in the same period of 2011. They also doubled 45 million to 89 million in March of the same year (2012).
In terms of the company's shortcomings, one of the incidents that the airline has had is the lack of control of one of the pilots in the flight from New York to Las Vegas caused by a man in the crew who claimed to be one of the members of Al-Qaeda . The passengers arriving at Texas were shipped in another plane directly to their main destination. As a second fact, due to storms, heavy snowfalls, heavy rains and climate variation in the United States, a JetBlue flight got stucked in Hartfod with passengers on board for more than 7 hours.
The company won for the sixth consecutive time the recognition of customer satisfaction by J. D Power and Associates. In the same year (2012) JetBlue started links with Latin American countries such as Colombia, carrying their flights to the cities of Bogota and Cartagena.
This year ended with an increase of 49% in profits reaching the $128 million dollars compared to last year which were $86 million dollars.
In 2013 the airline carried out the first flight that landed in the city of Medellin-Colombia, making it one of the key routes in Latin America and the Caribbean just as Bogota and Cartagena. They received in the same year the maximum award for customer service for the ninth time by J.D. Power and Associates which was the North America Airline Satisfaction StudySM.
They launched in february, the update of its application for smart phones, in which customers are able to check-in and thus obtain their boarding cards. The company next to Delta announced that will be in charge of the flights left by American Airlines from the city of Santo Domingo - New York and Santiago-New York.
