The topic that I have chosen for my research paper is question #4, "Islam is a highly controversial and sensitive issue today's world ..." . Islam was one of the youngest religions and now known to be the second largest religion in the world. I chose this topic because I felt that this was an interesting topic to do some research on. Being a Christian myself, it would be a challenge for me to learn about Islam and who exactly is "their" God. I want to be able to find out through my research on this topic/religion, on how this Islam actually came about. I have a lot of Muslim friends who actually live in fear because of today's misconception of the actual religion and its followers. I also think that this topic is very important to the study of cultural diversity as Islam alone being a very vast religion with so many followers from across the world, and their rituals is something that I would like to research on and share about. I would love to find out throughout my research on how Islam is being followed in different countries even though we are talking about one religion. Another important fact I would want to learn about is their holy place "Mecca" and their yearly fasting month theory. I want to be able to find out the role and value of women and the importance of their religious costumes. It is amazing how our country talks about the Muslim religion and its followers. I am hoping that after my research on this topic, I would be able to have a better understanding on what is the difference between Christianity and Islam. I would want to watch different geographic programs on the culture and read books that relate to this topic. I would also want to research on the internet for various sources also that would help me get a better picture on writing about my whole research experience. "Righteous is he who believes in Allah and the Last Day and the Angels and the Scriptures and the Prophets."--- Qur'an 2:177. I am looking forward to this research project and the fact of how much knowledge I would be able to learn about this topic.
