Investment for retirement
401K
Fidelity (FSDPX 71.32, +0.73, +1.03%) is one of the best commodity funds. It has an expense ratio of
less than 1% and has performed well over both the short term and the long term. Over the last 10 years,
FSDPX has returned about 15%,Fidelity Select Materials is also up 16% in 2010 compared with gains of
About, 11% for the broader market. I plan on having an account ready and have $1,000 to put in to this
fund by the age of 25. I would need to save 77.51 each month for 35 years to have a million dollars by
the time I'm 50. This is based on a return of 15% which is the long term interest rate.
Financial Fund
The FBR Large Cap Financial Investor Fund (FBRFX 14.21, +0.11, +0.78%) . This fund has one of the
lowest expenses, at about 1.5%. FBRFX also avoids smaller financials, with top holdings that include J.P.
Morgan Chase (JPM 46.40, -0.05, -0.11%) , Bank of America (BAC 13.48, +0.03, +0.22%) and Citigroup (C
4.45, 0.00, 0.00%). This would be and safer and more steady rate of increase in a 30 to 35 year span, I
plan at a 6.5% return to invest $1,000 in as a starting balance and then pay $540.03 each month. But
this isn't accounting for the interest rate increasing every year. So the rate of return will be more than
the 6.5%, that is an estimate. I expect a little less than 2 million dollar's, because the 401k has a fast
track pace to a million dollar's. The financial fund is growing at a far slower rate and $540.33 is quiet a
bit of money every year. The Financial Fund is just icing on the cake trying to get to 2 million dollars,
saving and investing in my business that I want to start will help a lot with this goal as well. I would like
to open my own restaurant between the ages of 26-36 and that is a big investment as well. When all is
said and done I expect around 2million dollars when I retire.
