The biggest disadvantage to online dating is it is impossible to know whether the person you are chatting with is telling the truth about himself. You should know and understand that it is not hard for the other person to use someone else's photo and then lie about his actual identity. Some people can fool you by posting fake photos. Catfish is a reality tv. In this show, they tried to help those who want to meet their partner that they met from social networking. From this reality show, it has been proven that every single person had finally break up after seeing their partner because they expecting the person would be the same as the photo. But unfortunately , it was fake.

Usually those who are looking for a lover have a tendency to impress their partner. Inaccurate information regarding their age, height, weight, education and working place is a norm to happen especially to those who may be desperate to get a girlfriend/ boyfriend. This can make it difficult to know if you are compatible with someone. If the beginning of a relationship starts with a lie, I seriously don't think the it will end with something beautiful.

Besides that, It is hard to be attracted to someone without seeing them. Our level of attraction is based on many qualities. We cannot simply rely through textual communication and photos. Even though if happen to be the person is showing his/her real photos, but, it doesn't mean that you may feel the same after meet that person. Facial expressions, individual behaviourism, head-to-toe appearance, personal hygiene and many other factors may come into play. Without this frame of physical reference, it can be difficult to identify whether you have a true attraction with someone or not.

Lastly, the risk of involving in online dating is we may be cheated by your partner. Releasing so much personal information online can make you a target for identity theft. Since the interactions are based on personal conversations with strangers, it is possible for a person to slip by the screening process and steal your information for private gain. There were also cases which involves the victim who had realized someone had transfer the money out from their account. This internet crime was done when the victims expose their personal data to some strangers who he or she believes to be their love one. There is also another tactic when they may even spend weeks trying to gain your trust. Eventually, they will have some type of medical or travel emergency, which they need your help to resolve it.
