Review of Reading

According to my reading during the last 3 weeks, I chose two readings of the course to focus on the main points of agreement and difference in the author's perspectives. The first reading is  week 1. The author is Hafez, K.(2007). International Reporting - No further than Columbus. The author discussed three main topics. The first one about how to be a good reporter. The second one is the limitation of journalism. The last one is the international reporting. The second reading is from week 2. The author is Sissons, H. (2006) 'The Journalist'. The author in this reading focused on the practical journalism and the characteristics of journalist.

Let's start to highlight on the agreement in the both authors' perspectives. Hafez, K. and Sissons, H. I see that both of them gave us the main characteristics and the skills of the journalist and the reporter. I noticed that Sissons, H. focused more on the personal skills of the journalist while Hafez, K. concentrated on the abilities of the good reporter.  Hafez thinks that the reporter must be patient and patience, as it should be automatically and educated and conversant and abreast of what is happening around him of events and possess. The reporter also has to have  the courage and strength of character and to be eager to gain experience and knowledge of detail. Hafez also shows that training is important for a reporter is required to keep abreast of developments and refining capacity to achieve more successes. The reporter must possess a sixth sense in detecting news and details. The reporter should also be cheerful note strong and nimble. The reporter must have good high culture and wide in order to enable him to write several topics.

On the other hand, Sissons, H.   sees that The journalist must have a high sense of all that is worthy to be significant news, and have the ability and insight minutes to distinguish between what can be significant news, and cann't be so. The author argues that the sense of the press and the Queen of talent found in a lot of people, but they need development and refinement through the experiences and accumulated experience. It is then somewhat similar to the so-called the Sixth Sense. The author (Sissons, H.  ) Journalism is a craft as do other crafts, and professional athletes each owning what makes them practicing their craft with great success, and the proficiency of expression through clear and precise language. The accuracy, objectivity and expertise in processing and editing information.

Now I will highlight on the difference in the both authors' perspectives. Hafez, K. and Sissons, H. In reading one, the author shows the limitation of journalism.  Journalism is a mirror that reflects the reality of our society, and aims to put forward their concerns and problems about the decision-makers to stand and then beyond that the transfer did not seek to resolve them. It is unreasonable to turn the press, directly or indirectly, to demolish a tool that society which shall be defended against the community in the eye of the time when his side. So the press should be unchecked longer necessary to prevent the transformation of the press itself to the terrifying specter of a threat to society. Hafez, K. also talks about the international reporting " International reporting' refers to the contents and processes of media coverage of realties beyond the home state."  He mentioned also that " Journalists and media play the role of intermediaries in the process of globalizations". The author see that international reporting can effect on the public opinion around the world.
