Nowadays, intermarriage has become more and more common in our lives. Many people chose to date with people from different cultures, different countries, or even different races. Once in love, modern people do not think that all of the problems between two people from different groups such as skin color, languages, and cultures are real matters for love. Though mixed couples are often scrutinized and put under great pressure from their families and society, the trend of intermarriage will continue to grow and it can have a very positive affect on the families formed. However, there are still conflicts which are the main concern for intermarriage.
Our history seldom denies intermarriage. There is no doubt that some conflicts may exist in intermarriage. Two people from two different backgrounds will likely experience a significant number of challenges and communication barriers. With different cultures come different customs. With different customs come misunderstandings. With misunderstandings come pain and grief. Conflict in religion adherence and cultural differences always exist. These will lead to frequent dispute and even end up to divorce. For example, since cultural differences, the ways an American thinks would have a big contrast to a Chinese. An American might think that children need to have more fun in their childhood while a Chinese might say that children need to be trained since they were young.
There are some benefits that can be brought from intermarriage. Intermarriage can enhance the integration of the society. This is because it encourages and increases the possibility of interaction between ethnics. Moreover, intermarriage also increases the exchange of religions, languages, customs and cultures among people in the world internally. Thus, this may stimulate some new element of culture. Intermarriage also helps breaking the lines of black and white or any form of racism. This is because with new perspective you can see the other race in a fresh and clear manner which breaks prejudice and causes us to unite into one whole nation.
In conclusion, intermarriage provides individuals with the unique opportunity to learn, experience, and appreciate different cultures and backgrounds. We are given the opportunity to see the beauty of different nationalities and peoples. Most importantly, we are finally learning that the outer shell of a person does not change who they are on the inside. Deep within, we are all one in same. Intermarriage strengthens individuals and builds harmony between different races. Learning and experiencing different cultures enrich us. This is one of the proofs that our world is evolving for the better. This evolution helps our societies to overcome many future disaster and problems to which may occur.
