InterClean-EnviroTech Merger Paper
InterClean Inc. has come up with a new strategic plan that will make their company more successful than before. In the next three to six months, the new strategic plan of InterClean will focus on expanding the company domestically and worldwide with full service solution packages that will meet all of their customers' needs (University of Phoenix, 2012). As part of the new strategic plan, InterClean has decided to merge with EnviroTech. With the decision of InterClean merging with EnviroTech, InterClean Inc. will have to decide what are the viable options the company has at this point and when might rightsizing be appropriate for this company. Also, InterClean will have to decide other than job elimination, how can the company implement the plan in a manner that is both ethical and legal as well as when the choice is involuntary separations, what steps must be taken (University of Phoenix, 2012).
Viable Options
Since the merger between InterClean and EviroTech has taken place, now it's time for InterClean to start providing new training to the current sales employees at InterClean along with the new additional 60 sales staff and operations specialists personnel from EnviroTech (University of Phoenix, 2012). The first choice InterClean has is to train their employees again and EnviroTech together, which means that after training is finish, InterClean can monitor all employees to see who is capable of remaining with the company since the merger has taken place and meet the new goals within the company. The second choice InterClean has is to continue to run their company with their current employees and just train the employees from EnviroTech, which means they can offer their current employees new positions and within the company and provide additional training for the employees that want to take on a new position and training the employees from EnviroTech. The third choice that InterClean has is to hire all new employees, which means terminating all of their old employees because they refuse to learn and follow the new procedures that come along with both companies merging. This means that the company will only interview candidates they feel are qualified for the positions they have open along with having the skills and are able to meet all of the company's standards.
Rightsizing the company
Rightsizing means the process of a company deciding to reorganize or reconstruct their business to achieve the maximum profit (What Is Rightsizing?, 2012). Companies can rightsize by cost-cutting, reduction of workforce, or reorganizing upper-level management (What Is Rightsizing?, 2012). For InterClean, rightsizing may be appropriate when they have chosen all the qualified employees they need with the proper training to create a sales team that will help the company increase their profit by 40%, which is expect by the merger of both companies. There can also be a chance that rightsizing may not be appropriate because the
