Inserting Tapes
The TC Enterprise partition on the t950 library has 200 slots allocated to it. When importing tapes into the t950, you can only import 10 tapes at a time. The following procedure will walk you through importing tapes into the TC Enterprise partition.
1. Go to the T950 library
2. Select the import/export tab
3. Go to Partition : Select TCENTERPRISE
4. Select export exchange
5. Insert Media into Tera Pack and select continue
After inserting the tapes into the library, we have to move them into Backup exec. The following procedure will walk you through getting the tapes into the 200 slot enterprise partition.
1. Go to the T950 library
2. Select the inventory tab
3. Go to Partition : Select TCENTERPRISE
4. Select your Source : Entry/Exit
5. Select your Destination : Storage
6. Highlight Source tape and Destination Slot
7. Select Add move
8. If you have more tapes, repeat steps 8 and 9
9. When done select Start Moves
After the tapes have been moved, verify the tapes are in their correct slots. This will also ensure that Backup exec recognizes the tapes as well.
1. Log into TTCBACKUP
2. Open Backup Exec
3. Go to the Devices tab
4. Right-click spectra 1 and select Scan
If you do not scan the library after importing the tapes, the software will never know the tapes are there.
Monitoring Backup Jobs
Our Backup scheme consist of Full and Differential backup jobs. The full backup s start on Friday and finish Monday morning. It is important to remember that our exchange server is a full backup every night. The following jobs are run over the weekend.
1. TTC FULL 1/4
2. TTC FULL 2/4
3. TTC FULL 3/4
4. TTC FULL 4/4
5. TTC EXCHANGE FULL
6. OVT EXCHANGE FULL
7. OVT FULL
All of these jobs are running to the spectra (1-50) partition. We also run differential backup jobs on the weekdays. Differentials backup everything that has changed since the full backup was run over the weekend.
