What is "Information Systems Success"? Which of the various measures of systems success do you think may be used most? Why?
Information system success is an issue that concerns system analyst. It is the degree to which a system accomplishes its intended purpose. It is the extent to which the system was able to achieve or perform its objective and is able to function effective and efficiently.
Measures of systems Success
1) User satisfaction with the system
This is the extent to which users are satisfied with the system.
2) The extent to which the system met its objectives.
Management should specify clear objectives as to what they expect to achieve from the system. Such objectives could be improve in organization performance (reduce customer complaints) and better decision making.
3) Financial payoff to the organization.
Example of financial payoff includes reduced cost, increase sales, increase profits.
4) User involvement and influence
This is the extent of participation of users in the system development process. When users are involved and have involve influence over the system development process they have a greater feeling satisfaction and are motivated to use the system.
5) Project Management Skills
With good project management skills, the project manager is able to keep the project on time, within the budget and delivering a very good system.
6) Management Support
The level of support management gives to the overall system development project.
7) Level of Usage
This is the extent to which the users use the system.
