My influence to motivate me to return to college include; Norfolk State University, Interim President Kim Luckes and her immediate staff. I work at a state college here in Virginia. Our current interim president is so the most influential person to me and such a motivator. Then the executive assistant to the president as well, was the key for me to seek further education. A mother of two small children and just turning age 40 and has accomplished so much. The day I met her I cried because I was so embarrass at the level of education I carried under my belt. This is when it a confirmation in my soul that it was time to start a new journey. A degree is needed to pursue further in the HR field, this had to be done. I believed if not now, I will never go back and regrets would have overshadowed everything in my life. I thanked the president and her close staff for inspirational, strong independent positions as women of color. The encouraging word passed on to me when I received my acceptance letter was an emotional shower of joy.
On this journey I could not have asked for anything better for myself. I am fulfilling a goal that has been long overdue. The best thing is having a supportive team backing my every move to help me succeed.
