Important place
My definition of house is not a word I can say or a thought I can think, but a feeling. This feeling is like a calm that settles over me like a blanket, just a quiet assurance telling me I belong in that place. My important place is my house that is my family's first place in the United State.
My family moved from Korea two years ago into the house I live in now. At first, I felt as if I came to a stranger's house. I felt awkward and uncomfortable. My house was full of the strange things: too high of a ceiling like a palace, up stairs in the middle of the house (in Korean, stairs rarely can see), the bathroom without the sewers on the floor and the carpet is covers all of the floor except the bathroom. Even though I complained about my house, I eventually became accustomed to these tiny things and realized that is the American life.
When my family moved to the house, we took the first step to the American society. My brother and I associated in a small group of high school and my parents started their own business. We were closer to the successful American life closer. As time goes by, we got used to living the American life. We felt comfortable and also lucky to live in our first house.
I am getting used to the American life style and made us closer. Also I felt thankful to my house, because here I learned English and culture. My first house is full of great memories and it is really important to me.
