If I Were a Native American Encountering Settlers

As a Native people in a tribe, I think encountering new people whom I never knew exsisted would purely startle me. I would not be trusting of them at all. They would not be welcomed just barging into my homeland or areas where my tribe and family live. If they did not openly admit to “coming in peace” I would immediately believe they were there to harm me or us. I don’t think anyone would rightfully welcome strangers into their homeland. This is because you don’t know their intentions. So, yes I would be extremely cautious about these new people who look nothing like my native people. Now you may think this would be okay but it wouldn’t. I mean you wouldn’t want strange people on your land just imposing themselves right?! This is how I believe the Natives felt when the settlers arrived. These people were new. They did not look, y’all or walk like them. And here they were just in their land with new gadgets and such. How could any new set of people just barge in and expect to feel welcomed. I tot could have been slowly introduced to to just barge in and expect to be accepted with open arms, no, this is crazy.

These are the reasons why if I were an Native American when the new settlers arrived I would not accept them.
