Think back to when you were a young child. Did you have a hero? Was it superman, spiderman, wonderwoman? Have you ever thought that a Military member could be a hero? Today's military should be ranked up there with superman, in someone's eyes. They go through so much, with their military careers. They deploy to other places that is by far no place like home. When they deploy they can be gone from anywhere to 1yr to 18months, sometimes back to back deployments. They sacrifice many things for people they don't even know. They do it without even being asked to. They make others' lives more important than their own. They stand for everything and ask for nothing in return. They sacrifice things that no one will, from the smallest things like a dry bed, food, etc. to the ultimate sacrifice by laying down their life for man to have the freedoms we have now. Our military members are heroes because of their time and efforts they put in with their deployments, sacrifices, dedication, and for our freedom.
Military members' whether they are Army, Air force, Navy, Marines, Or Coast Guard, have a good chance to deploy at some point in their career. Before nine -eleven (9-11) it was not likely however depending on what period of time they are at. Now, after nine eleven (9-11) you can pretty much guarantee the military personal will be deployed somewhere. During world war 11 soldiers were deployed over to Europe and Asia and never knew when they would return home, returning home depended on the point system, some soldiers who were in country from day one who jumped in on D-day would not ever get enough points, this had many soldiers in country for over Two to three years at a time. Vietnam soldiers would be deployed for a yr. or longer. Libya there was soldiers who went to work on a normal day and never to return till one week later. They sat there on an unknown site and never knew anything except that they would be ready at a moment notice. The Gulf war soldiers would deploy for one (1) year they were told. Now after nine -eleven (9-11) the military deploys soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen, and even coast guard telling them they will be gone for one year and then they were being extended. Now they are being told that they will be gone from anywhere between 12 to 24 months. They are being deployed with very little to no amenities.
