Our late president Ronald Reagan once said, "Unless and until it can be proven that the unborn child is not a living entity, then its right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness must be protected." 'You shall not murder' (Exodus 20:13), is to protect human life. but have you ever been raped, and you ended up becoming pregnant with a child, your rapist created? Do you feel as though you're incompetent to be a mother? Have you ever ended up pregnant with a child created with your significant other, but realize that you neither them were ready to be a parent? Do you have certain health conditions that could possibly put your unborn child's life? Are you one of those people who only thinks of yourself and are too selfish to be a parent, Or do you just realize that children are not the right thing for you as person? All of these are possible scenarios why someone might have an abortion to abort the unborn fetus. Although some people might find these to be good reasons to have abortions, others might find these same reason excuses to commit legal murder. The question that remains is abortion necessary or is murder.
When most people think of murder they usually think of a human killing another human for selfish reason or on accident, but as more and more women get abortions more and more people are calling abortion murder. Murder is defined as the killing of another human being under conditions specifically covered in law. In the U.S., special statutory definitions include murder committed with malice aforethought, characterized by deliberation or premeditation or occurring during the commission of another serious crime, as robbery or arson (first-degree murder), and murder by intent but without deliberation or premeditation (second-degree murder).
The definition of abortion is the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus; spontaneous expulsion of a human fetus during the first 12 weeks of gestation; induced expulsion of a human fetus. The process of abortion usually takes place at an abortion clinic, Planned Parenthood, or you're local OB/GYN (Obstetrician Gynecologist). There are many different procedures for having an abortion such as Methotrexate & Misoprostol (MTX)( a medical abortion procedure used up to the first seven weeks of pregnancy. This medication combination is not as commonly used in the U.S. with the availability of mifepristone, which works more effectively for this use), Mifepristone and Misoprostol( a medical abortion procedure used up to the first seven to nine weeks of pregnancy. It can also be referred to as RU-486, the abortion pill and Mifeprex), Manual Vacuum Aspiration (MVA)( a procedure used as early as 3 -12 weeks since the last period. Considered less invasive with only a local anesthesia being used on the cervix), Aspiration( a surgical abortion procedure used to terminate pregnancy up to 16 weeks from the last period. It can also be referred to as suction curettage, dilation and curettage (D & C) or vacuum aspiration), Dilation & Curettage (D & C)( a surgical abortion procedure used to terminate a pregnancy up to 16 weeks gestation. It is also referred to as suction curettage or vacuum aspiration), Dilation & Evacuation (D & E)(a surgical abortion procedure used to terminate a pregnancy after 16 weeks gestation), Induction Abortion( a rarely performed surgical procedure where salt water, urea, or potassium chloride is injected into the amniotic sac; prostaglandins are inserted into the vagina and pitocin is injected intravenously), Induction Abortion( a rarely done surgical procedure where salt water, urea, or potassium chloride is injected into the amniotic sac; prostaglandins are inserted into the vagina and pitocin is injected intravenously),Dilation and Extraction( a surgical abortion procedure used to terminate a pregnancy after 21 weeks of gestation. This procedure is also known as D & X, Intact D & X, Intrauterine Cranial Decompression and Partial Birth Abortion).
The abortion procedure can also be a pricy thing to pay for, but for some people the price to pay is worth it. The price for abortion ranges from about $372-$468 in the United States according to research done by The Guttmacher Institute in 2001. Although abortion procedures can be expensive some insurance companies cover most of the price. About 87% of private health care plans cover abortion services, but only 47% of American workers policies cover abortion services due to the fact that they have substandard plans.
After reading that definitions of murder and abortion, compare the two together. Now when you sit back and think of the two compared to each other they are actually similar. Yes, abortion is the termination of an unborn child or fetus, but should it be considered murder? Is wrong for someone to kill their unborn child or fetus, because of circumstances? Should it be a crime or a right?
Many people have many different beliefs and out-look on abortion, because abortion is such a touchy subject it cause a lot of conflict between many people in America. However
