Gun Clubs
Hello everybody. Thank you so much for your warm welcome. I cannot express how delighted I am to see so many young faces here today.
My name is *** and I am today's representative from the organization PAX. We at PAX are working very hard in order to limit the spread of weapons In the U.S, and our ultimate goal is a completely gun-free society. Today, I am going to address a very serious topic: gun violence. Gun violence is a regularly debated issue in the United States, and for good reasons. Death by firearm has become far too common over the years, and more lives are being put at risk. The number of innocent men, women, and children whose lives has been silenced by the hand of a gun is disturbingly increasing these days. I, personally, am very much opposed to weapons and strongly against the idea that Americans have the right to be in possession of guns. This is easily explained by the severe consequences that follow the use of weapons, and the fact that the weapons often ends up in the hands of the wrong people. Young people too, have easy access to guns and as you all are aware of, there have been more than a few incidents involving armed students or staff who ended up shooting innocents at their workplace or school. As a matter of fact, gun violence in America killed over 3,400 children and injured 18,000 more in 2001. There are too many irrational, unstable people who carry a gun with them at all times because of the easy access, and this is why gun rights should be banned. Who knows - maybe one day our sisters or brothers will be on the news. This is a very scary thought indeed.
Now, I am going to further inform you about weapons and their significance, how they are used today and the consequences of this. I truly am very pleased to be here today, since I believe this topic is very relevant and contemporary for today's youth. Therefore, I strongly encourage all of you to participate in the debate and eventually, there will be time for your questions and comments. I really look forward to hearing your opinions and viewpoints on this matter. Later, I will explain how you can make an active effort to prevent a school shooting.
Today, we are more aware of weapons than ever and we often hear about crimes involving guns in the media. There are far too many guns and gun owners in this country. Originally, man invented weapons as a "tool" to hunt animals or defend their land in times of war. Today, many people carry guns with them at all times in order to protect themselves and feel safe. Furthermore, statistics shows that boys are likelier to carry guns. They seem to think that they need a gun by their side in order to feel safe and simply cannot function without a weapon in hand. I fervently disagree with this kind of mentality. If someone broke into your home you would certainly feel the need
