Group Dynamics
Our topic was on "What takes it to be a Great Indian Prime Minister. To get all the group members together was the major challenge that we all had to face, since many of them were having prior assignments like one of the member had to attempt a re-exam, the other had a marketing presentation and the third group member was busy with ASTRA . We decided to schedule the first meeting on Monday morning , but there was an ASTRA rally scheduled and that meeting had to be postponed to the afternoon an hour prior to the regular class started, Again only few of the members turned up. With just four members , we decided on a rough draft on the presentation .One of the team member had a strong foundation in politics and was able to take the leadership role immediately by informing and sharing knowledge to other team members on the different Prime Ministers of our country , their regime and achievements. We discussed for about an hour on the various pros and cons on ranking the Prime Minister's and we were fortunate to have a Devils advocate who questioned each suggestion because of which we were able to refine and come up with better alternatives. The next thing we decided was on the topic outline and structure .The arrangement of various structures , the introduction , the questions and the conclusion. We sat together assigning different roles and topics to each team member. We decided to give each other sufficient individual time so that each member advances and improves over his/her knowledge on the subject. The next day, Tuesday we sat together post lunch and our individual contributions were compiled together and there was a rigorous norming session were we had a lot of opinion mismatch or alternatives suggested on who should handle which topic. As the time required for preparation was very short ( less than a day), we all faced a lot of stress on reaching a consensus. The most important thing here is that everyone had good listening skills and had the helping mentality which helped in improvising not only their own individual work but also the others topic as well. As time passed , two of the members were falling sick but continued to sit along with the others for the benefit of the team , that was the passion they had and each and every member had towards the objective of a successful presentation. This was the Norming stage. It was then that we were informed about the night class which would extend till 10:30 PM.This was another set back which the team faced. Following this , the team had a major setback .One of the member who priorly had refrained from the initial group meetings due to exam had suddenly fallen sick and it was decided that this person will not be presenting. The time was already late and we were attending the class. This had brought major changes in the structure of the presentation. We sat through the night to complete the entire presentation and got it consolidated.
