Greek mythology concerns about their Gods, heroes, the nature of the world and the origins and significance of their own culture. Greek mythology is a large group of stories told. The most famous Greek myth is the one about all of the Gods. Now today these myths are just known primarily from Greek literature. There are many interesting myths talked about and with all the information I've gathered I am able to share some of it with you.
In ancient Greek times, there were many myths about Greek Gods. The Olympians side of the Gods names were Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hermes, Aphrodite, Athena, Ares, Artemis, Apollo, Demeter, Hestia, and Hera. The Titans names were Hyperion, Lapetus, Coeus, Crius, Cronus, Mnemosyne, Oceanus, Phoebe, Rhea, Tethys, Theia, and Themis. They each played their own important individual roll on Earth. They had power over anybody else as well.
All of the Olympian Gods homeland was located on Mount Olympus. It is the highest mountain/peak in Greece. It is about 2,197 meters (9,570 ft) which is almost two mountains high. It's actually one of the highest peaks in Europe. Only the 12 main Gods lived on Mount Olympus because they were the Olympians.
Zeus, was the god of Earth and the Sky. He was also the king of all the rest of the Greek Gods. His symbol was the thunderbolt, the eagle, the bull and the oak. Although, he was married to Hera his elder sister he would frequently cheat on her with many women. He is a middle-aged man. His siblings are Hades, Poseidon, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia. Now Zeus had many children, Ares, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Aphrodite, Dionysus, Hebe, Hermes, Hercules, Helen, Hephaestus, Perseus, Minos, and the Muses, and Graces.
Poseidon, was the god of the seas, rivers, floods, droughts, storms, and earthquakes. He is known as the "Earth Shaker" or "Storm Bringer". His symbols were the Trident, fish, dolphin, horse, and the bull. Poseidon had great powers, just by raising his hand, he can form a new island. His weapon is his trident, which can shake the earth and shatter any object. Amongst all the Gods he is the second most powerful right behind Zeus. He is married to Amphitrite. His parents were Cronus and Rhea and was siblings with Hades, Poseidon, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia.
Hades, is god of the underworld. His symbols are the Cerberus, Cap of visibility, helmet of darkness, Cypress, Narcissus and Key of Hades. He is a greedy God concerned about his increasing with subjects. He is also the God of wealth due to the precious metals mined from the Earth. He rarely leaves the underworld. His parents are Cronus and Rhea. His wife is Persephone, whom Hades abducted. He is exceedingly disinclined to allow any of his subjects leave. His siblings were Hades, Poseidon, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia. His children were Macaria, Melinoe, Zagrues and Plutus.
Hera, is the Goddess of marriage and family. She is the daughter of Cronus and Rhea. Symbols include the peacock, pomegranate, cuckoo, lion and cow. She was usually considered a beautiful women wearing a crown and holding a lotus-tipped staff. She was the wife and sister of Zeus. She was also siblings with Hades, Poseidon, Hera, Demeter, and Hestia. Poseidon and Hades. Her children were Ares, Enyo, Hebe, Eilethyia, Hephaestus and Eris.
Aphrodite, is the Goddess of Love and Beauty. Although married to Hephaestus she had many lovers. Her symbols were the Dolphine, Rose Scallop, shell, Myrtle, Dove, Sparrow, Girdle, Mirror, and Swan. She was the opposite of the God of war Ares. She was very peaceful and relaxed. Some say she was born because the God Cronus, sliced off a body part from Uranus and threw it in the Ocean and from the foam, Aphrodite was born. Others say she was the daughter of Zeus. Her siblings were The Three Nymphs, The Furies, and the Gigantes. Her children were Eros, Phobos, Deimos, Harmonia, Pothos, Anteros, Himeros, Hermaphroditos, Rhode, Eryx, Peitho, Tyche, Eunomia, The Graces, Priapus, Aeneas.
Hermes, is the messenger of all the Gods and a guide to the Underworld. He delivers important messages is a traveler. Hermes was born on Mount Cyllene in Arcadia. His symbols include the tortoise, the rooster, the winged sandals, the winged hat, and the caduceus. His Parents were Zeus and Maia. His children were Pan, Hermaphroditus, Tyche, Abderus, Autolycus, and Angelia.
Athena, was the Goddess of wisdom, civilization, warfare, strength, strategy, female arts, crafts, justice, and skill. Her parents were Zeus and Metis. She had one sibling known as Porus. She was the favorite child of Zeus. She had sprung fully-grown out of her father's head. Ares was the God of war. His symbols were the spear, helmet, dog, chariot, and the boar. He wore a Spartan helmet and wore a wielded his shielded. His parents were Zeus and Hera. His siblings were Hebe Hephaestus, Enyo, Hercules, and Eileithyia. His children were Eros, Anteros, Phobos, Deimos, Phlegyas,
