Global Warming

Introduction

The climate keeps on changing because of the human activities. Have you ever thought that the atmosphere around you looks different from how it was twenty years ago? Many scientists differ regarding whether global warming exists. A science journal published in 2015 approved that there is an increase in atmospheric temperature and it confirms that global warming exists in the world. Did you know that the report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change indicates that 95% of the present climate change is caused by humans and we need to reduce the use of substances such as fossils by not less than a percentage of 90? (Rogelj, et al, 248) The essay discusses global warming on its history, causes, solutions and what the government does to tackle the issue. Global warming is a global problem that needs to be dealt with by every individual; Thus, to control this issue; collaboration is the key.

Body

Global warming is an issue that is due to emission of greenhouse gases. This issue alarms on the need to control global warming not only as an individual but rather everyone in the world.

My Passion

I am passionate about this topic because I want to be a hero through saving millions of people and the only way I can do is to solve a problem that might occur in future by preventing it from occurring. I wrote about this topic because this topic is an environmental issue. It meets the requirements of the assignment. Global warming is associated with the environment because it is caused by human activities and causes an increase in the environmental temperatures.

The Big Picture

Environmental science deals with situations such as controlling pollution, acquiring alternative systems of energy, control of natural resources and impacts of change in climate. It is important because global warming is brought by the change in global climate; thus, the cause of the climate change needs to be controlled to avoid its impact.

Global warming fits because environmental scientists analyse on the ways of controlling the environmental issues. This topic relates to other areas of environmental science such as geology. Global warming affects the ecology because there is no symbiotic relationship between the organisms and the environment. High environmental temperatures affect the life of an organism.

History

The first idea was made in 1896 by Syvante, a Swedish scientist; he claimed that burning of fossil fuel leads to a climate change (Zecca, et al, 1-3).. His claim was hugely received because many people thought that the natural forces caused the rise in environmental temperatures.

In the 1940s, infrared spectroscopy was developed to measure longwave radiations.  In 1955, Gilbert Plass concluded that presence of carbon dioxide in atmosphere interferes with infrared radiation. This makes the radiation to get into space causing global warming. Concentration curves were created in1960s by Charles Keeling to determine the concentration of carbon dioxide. The measures dropped and in the 1980s there was a rise in the measure of carbon dioxide. This made environmentalist to develop fear and advocated for its control. In 1880, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was created to check on the climate change. Several measures were taken to deal with climate change. Kyoto protocol was also signed by 186 countries to control climate change. The nations were required to limit the greenhouse gas emissions (Crutzen, et al, 227-238). The greenhouse effect was the term used previously, but it changed to be referred as global warming.
