INTERNAL EXAMINER REPORT (Coursework)
Module Title: Global Marketing................................................. Code: MAR 6019
Evidence of knowledge
Altogether 179 student assignments were marked. There were 23 fails (13%) 36 thirds (20%) 51 2:2's (28%) 37 2:1's (20%) and 32 firsts (18%).
The relatively high proportion of firsts is pleasing but this is counterbalanced by 13% failure rate. 22 of the 23 fails were Chinese students.
Evidence of analysis
The better assignments showed good analytic skills by being able to put forward suitable market entry recommendations based on a variety of factors including company profiles and market conditions.
Evidence of constructive criticism/evaluative judgement
The better assignments showed good judgement by putting forward suitable marketing strategy and marketing mix recommendations
Evidence of synthesis.
Transferable skills
A considerable number of direct entrants clearly struggled with English which made marking a slow process. These students also tended to disregard the recommended outline structure and submitted work which was poorly layed out.
(for example presentation skills, English language, referencing etc)
Recommendations to students for improvement.
Follow the advice of tutor especially in relation to presentation and structure. Make sure your English is at a suitable standard before you start the module. Attend regularly and read the course text book.
