I am going to tell you a story about the day my son, German Angel Campos, was born. It was a very scary but yet exciting day. It was a day that we thought was going to be like any other day. But things went from crazy to insane. I am going to explain to you where this all started.
I am going to start by telling you about the night before his birth, August 23, 2011. It all started while we were out to dinner at AppleBees. While we were eating dinner around 9:30PM, an earthquake hit. Earthquakes are rare here in Maryland, where we live. Right after the earthquake hit, my son's mother Tiffani, started having contractions, like many other nights. So I figured there was no need for me to go to the hospital with her that night. Every other time this would happen, the hospital would always send her home. So I asked Tiffani's mother to drive me home. They then went to the hospital. But little did I know this was not like every other time.
While I was asleep, I heard my phone ringing. To my surprise it was Tiffani's mother. I answered my phone and she told that me that Tiffani was two centimeters, and being admitted into the hospital. So I asked her to pick me up. She picked me up within 15 minutes. While waiting for her, and during the ride to the hospital, I was having so many thoughts going through my head. One thought was, what if she has the baby before I get there. I started to get nervous. My heart was beating quickly. I was sweating. It was a feeling I had never felt before.
When we finally arrived at the hospital, Tiffani's mom and I rushed inside and tried to get to her room as quickly as possible. We went into her room and saw Tiffani and Dr. Mian. Doctor Mian was still trying to stop the labor. When he left the room, I spent some time with Tiffani. I then started to get tired and decided to lie down on the couch. I went to sleep. I was woken up by the screams of Tiffani. At that time I thought she was in labor. But to my surprise, it was Dr. Mian breaking Tiffani's water. So we waited and waited. A few hours later, the nurse noticed that the baby's heartbeat kept dropping every time Tiffani would have a contraction. So she called the doctor into the room.
The doctor came in and was examining her. Out of nowhere he told her to start pushing. I stood up quickly and went to Tiffani's side. I held her hand. It was amazing to see how much strength Tiffani had. She did not scream even once during the labor. Finally we were able to see the baby's head. Then German Angel Campos was born on August 24, 2011.
