It was extremely rewarding experience while playing Forbidden Island with my team mates. Initially, all team members had some apprehensions in regards to the rules of playing the game. I try to act as facilitator and requested all team members that when we play game all rules will come to us easily if we had read them at least once. I was surprised to see their positive reaction towards my assertiveness. There were three rounds which we needed to play. All team members were uber excited to begin the first round. We started the game and initially what I had found out that everyone was little rusty on the rules of the games. We kept on teaching rules to each other and sometimes when in doubt we got back to rule book. Actually, I try to memorize the rules from the online rule book and I was under the impression that I knew it all but this was not the case. On the contrary, I found out that though I knew majority of the rules but just knowing rules is not sufficient enough to win the game. This game cannot be won until team members made some kind of strategy and tweak the strategy while playing the game. While developing and learning these strategies concept of explicit and tacit knowledge resonated in my mind. Clearly rules which I read online were only explicit knowledge but developing strategy in order to win the game can only come up with practice and experience or designing strategy is tacit knowledge. This theory further resonates with me in terms of why importance is given to tacit knowledge by business schools and organizations because tacit knowledge is very difficult to articulate to others and it is always job or situation specific. We kept on playing the game but to my surprise, I found out that one of team member exhibit some strange behaviour. I will call this team member Sam. Sam was kept on forgetting the rules and on some occasions he will move the pawns on the island in order to check if the move will follow our strategy and later on he himself forgot where he had moved the pawns. This was creating confusion but luckily I was keeping track of his wrong moves. However Sam also started mixing up the player cards and discarded cards. At this point I requested Sam not to mix cards or move the pawns physically but to do these moves in his head. Sam agreed to my explanation but he kept on repeating the same behaviour. These events made me think why he was showing this kind of behaviour. I came to conclusion that this must be a personality trait. After my research I was able to connect this behaviour with five factor model of personality CANOE and trait which was exhibited by Sam was neuroticism. Though we were short on time but I took this behaviour as an opportunity to learn something new. I wanted to understand this behaviour and also at the same time assisted Sam so that he could be more productive. I found out that there was only one thing which was causing this behaviour and the culprit was anxiety. I tried to find the reasons
