From Repression to Revolution

From Repression to Revolution was a speech given by Ken Cockrel. Cockrel critiques the way demonstrators or protests are publicized. He believes the objection should be excepted and not put out for public opinion or judgment. This only singles out a race and downplays the actual people who are affected, which are more than just minorities. Cockrel wants people to focus on the mechanics of the opposition to dismantle it. This will bring a revolution for change in state power that will inevitably spread throughout the world.

Cockrel believes the revolutionary way should come from workers. They can stand up and fight for rights and avoid being arrested. This will become an organization that avoids defense but not except the conditions they are facing. The strategy does not look intimidating and avoids prosecution of been arrested. The oppressors response would be forced to address the situation fairly without making it look like a group of individuals who are being rebellious for a minimal reason.

Cockrel speaks in Detroit about a revolutionary change that is taking place in the city but many are not aware of who reside in the city it's happening. This is an example of how a revolution is transpired but goes unrecognized because of the capitalistic overviews that go on in society. The people that are seeking justice search elsewhere and do not know it is going on in their hometown. The injustice is hidden but clearly in sight. The way to notice affliction taking place is to see why such incidents are produced and who they are typically affecting.

Repression comes in many forms and the one Detroit suffers from is incarceration. The opposition, which is called the "Man," uses this tool to oppress people that cannot afford to survive the justice system. The Man uses organizations to afflict changes bringing them fourth and labeling them as wrongdoers. This is why he suggests uniting righteous people so there will be no interference or penetration allowed by outside forces. The known revolutionaries are persecuted publicly to put fear in and uprising so people would be reluctant to demonstrate.

Cockrel formed the League of Revolutionary Black Workers to lead people in a takeover of power in efforts to not be repressed. The league is formed to represent the fight against the opposers around the world that impose on poor people in various ways. The Man will not be able to impose his will in the many ways done around the world because of this. He wants to be able to develop this politically to disrupt the system. This will allow the reconstruction of school systems that will prepare the children to not be subjected or tolerate capitalism. To conclude, repression has to be in relation to change implementing a wold wide connection to control the system that oppresses.
