Am I Flourishing?

For me to flourish would be to have a balance between being relaxed and being stressed in which I push my limits to improve myself. Overall flourishing for me would be to excel in the activities I put myself in, spend time with my family and lead a healthy lifestyle. However looking at the way my time was spent this week I don’t see a balance rather I see myself spending most of my time stressed and worrying about what is the next thing to do. My time is dedicated on a monochromic basis which isn’t a bad thing but it leaves very little to enjoying the little things in life if my entire day is based on ‘it’s time to do this now’ rather than doing something when I feel it is the right moment. My choice to make school and work a priority is the main reason for this monochromic schedule and while they allow me to eventually get to my ‘good life’ they are currently hindering the time I give to spending with my family or having a healthy lifestyle thus pushing me away from my vision of flourishing. Just looking at the activities I did this week I can see that I am nowhere near leading a healthy lifestyle, I don’t exercise and mostly eat junk food. My lack of regard to health is actually making it harder to even flourish in work and school because I am constantly tired thus not concentrating which leads me to do double the work. The more time my school and work require the more time I cut down from spending with family and friends or just relaxing to recoup from a demanding day. Thus I don’t think my current lifestyle is helping me to flourish because there is an imbalance in my daily activities which consequently hinder one another. That being said if I put more effort to at least eating a bit healthier and exercising I can create a healthier lifestyle in which I’m not completely exhausted, this would however require spending less time doing something else or require multitasking. Thinking from that perspective I could spend the time with my family playing a sport, or walking or making dinner/lunch thus still having time for family and being a bit healthier without cutting time from studying or work. This healthier lifestyle would lead to better concentration and being more active thus no longer requiring the current amount of effort I put into activities which would in return leave more time for activities that are more intrinsic.
