Every single person has flaws and imperfections. What this quote means is that it's better to be cognizant of your flaws and admit you have them rather than conceal your true identity. This quote has a lot of meaning to it. After all, who would want to read a book in which the protagonist has no problems whatsoever. The plot wouldn't be appealing to the readers. Two books can have this quote interpreted. In Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, Louie Zamperini smokes and robs liquor stores as a young child. This is what makes the book interesting to read. Another book in which this quote applies to is the autobiography by Adeline Yen Mah, a truly inspirational book. The book is about a very intelligent young girl who is deeply loathed by her family because her mother died while concieving her. Even when Adeline won awards for her outstanding knowledge of all subjects, none of her family members showed up to the school auditorium to congratulate her and encourage her to continue working on her endeavors. Both of these books evidently apply to this meaningful quote. So basically, both of these books are great and have a deep meaning, just as the quote by Nicolas Cage. I highly recommend these two books, you will enjoy them.
