Evaluating the Consultation and Education Department Paper

Introduction

This paper will discuss one process evaluation measure, and one outcome evaluation measure that will be developed for the Consultation and Education Department at Greenby Community Mental Health Center. It will also mention the reasons for, purpose of the developed process evaluation measure, and how they influenced my design. I will also be discussing the challenges that could arise from evaluating the Greenby Community Mental Health Center. Finally, a discussion on why an evaluation would be helpful to the consultation and education department.

Process Evaluation Measure

Process evaluation is a big part of management. This process must be involved in part with decisions that have to be made in human service organizations every day. The results from this type of process must be understood from the staff at these organizations. Staff that are concerned with the functioning of these programs, are who need to understand the process. This includes the following: community members, funding sources, service providers, and administrators( Lewis, Packard & Lewis, 2007).

At Green by Community Mental Health Center, one process evaluation measure would be the cutback of funding. This means that the executive director wants to remove the consultation and education department at Greenby because of lack of funding. The cost and benefit analysis would be the best suggestion in this scenario. The executive director can argue that the consultation and education department is much more important than the cost of the program. The consultation and education department was a big part of the organization bringing in clients. The executive director could also argue that if the program was cut so would the number of clients and other programs would suffer as well.

Outcome Evaluation Measure

Outcome evaluation measure includes systems that have inputs, outputs, activities, processes, and outcomes. This system is used in examining many programs. The materials which are used in these types of programs are to serve the clients, employees, volunteers, building budget, equipment, and money. These are easily identified and are common in human service organizations.

The outcome evaluation for Greenby would be objective, specific, and measurable. A strong objective allows room for the ongoing evaluation as client results are monitored daily.

The effectiveness of the consultation and education department plays a factor in the outcome evaluation. The results from clients receiving rewards versus client non-participation if the program is cut. The accomplishments of the program plays a role in the outcome as well. The pros and cons must be weighed in this decision. Short-term, long-term, and intermediate-term outcomes lead to knowledge and skills, behaviors, and values and status are all conditions of outcome evaluation.

The outcome evaluation measure is the accomplishments of the program objectives designed for the consultation and education department at green by community mental health center. Following the objectives that are written clearly and precise, will measure the amount of success that the developed strategy will relate to them.

There are two types of objectives,
