Deforestation is the act of cutting down trees for other uses that benefits humans and it is one of the most destructive issues to environment. When there are no trees, it generates various problems – the significant change in climate of the Earth and catastrophic soil erosion that could leads to death – but most importantly is the loss of precious biodiversity in the rainforests areas. This essay will briefly examine the problem such as threaten in habitats and offers several solutions that could be a savior to the whole world.

The fundamental problem of deforestation is the loss of biodiversity. Generally, many species have been discovered in rainforest have brought advantages to humankind such as medical cures, domesticated used and genetic support for disease from other plants. Unfortunately, variety of plants and animals life has been in threaten. This is because people tend to cut down the precious resources such as Mahogany and Plywood to gain money to meet their economic pressure such as country’s debts and to ensure their survival. These activities, however, have result in a crucial increase in biodiversity extinction rates. One study has assumed that overall 2 million species that only live in tropical rainforests have been driven to extinction, estimated between 4000 and 6000 species a year.  If the biodiversity continues to lose at the present rate, humankind would lose the benefits that could help them in future generation.

Even though, some may not agree that deforestation is the main cause of loss in biodiversity, environmentalist generally agrees that due to overpopulation and economic pressures do contribute to the loss. Hence, it is suggested that individuals and government need to encounter the problem as they are responsible to the Earth environment.

Public involvement is crucial in this solution act as they represent the major population that live in the Earth. Civil should take action by purchasing products that are sold from certified areas only. Those certified areas must be approved internationally by conversation plans. Even though it high-cost, this could guarantee the price are worth the cost of trees that being cut down and reduce the lost of valuable resources in fast pace. This have been advocates by the environmentalist of Philippines for the consumers who want to buy the Philippines mahogany, lauan, for manufacturing the furniture.  Beside, the civil should allude the products that cost habitat to endanger. With the protesting act, it would affect the suppliers as they cannot gain profits from selling the products and also give bad reputation for their company for producing products that are not environmental friendly. As a result, they will stop the production. This has successfully occurs in New Zealand where the resident rejected the local chocolate as it made from palm oil that made other species in threaten and finally, the company remove those raw materials from their manufacturing.  Civil or public people are the biggest source of incomes for all those corporations or loggers to sell their commodities; therefore, if the consumers speak up, they will listen and eventually stop harming the biodiversity with their products.
