Compare and Contrast between George Mason University and University of Maryland
All University of higher education grants academic degrees in a variety of subjects, like Criminal Justice. In a decision of to chooseest iversity that has the best major background reputation can be very difficult because there is a lot of information everyone would like to obtain before a big decision that can mean your future. As a result people feel confuse where they are choosing the best University and they receive all the resources of learning about the two school, and its similarities and contrast of George Mason University (GMU) and University of Maryland (UMD).
The first similarity of GMU and UMD is that are both located in a large suburb GMU in Fairfax VA and UMD College Park MD. With them being not too far from each other they both share similar student life, housing, and education. The Criminal Justice program of a Social Science in George Mason is excellent many recent graduates are working at their peak of their career like the FBI, State police, CIA, DEA, and local police officers. On the other hand UMD also has an excellent education program The University of Maryland's Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice (CCJS) is a national and international leader in research and criminal justice education. Lot's of its graduates are also working for the private sector and have added anti terrorist agents over seas.
In contrast GMU is a local University to me and they might not have the best Criminal justice education in the country but UMD tuition is too expensive. GMU tuition is about nine thousand dollars a year while UMD is about twenty six thousand dollars a year out of state. They both have similar sports but as of late GMU have been on the spotlight participating in NCAA Division one sports. GMU are the "defending Patriots" while UMD are the Terrapins of College Park.
A few academics are also different, I can transfer to GMU completing at least thirty credits of college work and transferring only eighteen credits to the Criminal Justice program at GMU with at least a GPA of 2.0 while at UMD to transfer I need to have a GPA of 3.25 and their admission success rate is only forty percent while at GMU is sixty two percent. Fitting in the community can also be an issue of living 70 % of the students at GMU is White and Hispanic while in UMD is 60 % African American. The crime rate in GMU is one of the safest in the country because is located in Fairfax VA, on the other hand UMD has lots issue of crime being committed specially in the past five years.
