In NBB's core values and beliefs about environmental and social we can find "Having fun". Indeed, the company has lot of values and they share their values with employees and consumers. There are 320 employees in the company. They have access to free massage once a year, free lunch every other week and employees can bring their children or dogs to work. Moreover, for those who stayed more than 5 years in the company, earn an all-expenses-paid trip to Belgium to "study beer culture" and they also earn stock in the privately held corporation. NBB made a pleasant atmosphere to work for employees. For me, it is the first social initiative they had to take because employees are really important in a company. The image of NBB could not be the same if they did not create this kind of atmosphere really relaxant and pleasant for workers.
Nevertheless, NBB strives to improve communities and enhance people's live as well as its employees' live. They try to achieve these ambitions through corporate giving, event sponsorship and philanthropic involvement.
NBB donated more than $2.9 million to philanthropic causes since its inception. But in 2008, they donated $490,000 in funds for philanthropic causes. For every barrel of beer sold the prior year, NBB donates $1 to philanthropic causes.
Moreover, NBB was looking for non-profit organization that demonstrates creativity, diversity and innovative approach to their mission and objectives. The company put humanity at the forefront of its priorities.
In order to be linked with consumers at every moment, the company uses Facebook, My Space and have its own blog. NBB maintained a community bulletin board where they posted an array of community involvement activities and proposals. For that, tourists, consumers and employees were allowed to see the different ways the company can help out the community.
NBB's most important asset is its image and we know now that the company feels concern of society. I will say that New Belgium's social initiatives are indicative of a philanthropic strategy.
