Should parents secretly investigate their kid's electronic lives? Some parents secretly access their teen's online accounts like Face book, email or phone. It is an invasion of privacy their children. Maybe parents should trust teens to take smart choices? By reading text messages parents take away their privacy. However, children are smart enough to use a computer, but not always wise enough to protect themselves from online strangers or graphic Web side. Parents need to pay close attention to who their children are communicating with when they are on their computer because it can protect your child from danger. "There are dangerous people out there cruising the Internet looking for kids," said Dr. Frank Kardasz, Phoenix Police Sergeant. Parents need to know what is going on with their children. Parents who secretly investigate their kid's electronic lives can more easily protect them from pedophiles, drug dealers or child pornography.
First of all, parents who have access to electronic devices of their children can better protect them from pedophiles. Children are very easy targets for pedophiles because they are too trusting and they can easily be deceived. Children spend a lot of time chatting on the computer establishing contact with strangers' people sometimes much older than themselves. Kids often put a lot of their photos from various events on popular portals such as Face Book, MySpace or Friendster and they give out almost all their private data. Teenage Research Unlimited shows that, sixty-one percent of 13-17 years olds have a personal profile on social networking sites, and half have posted pictures of themselves online. Such imprudent behavior by young people is an easy target for watchful pedophiles. The parents who monitor their child's every move faster can prevent such an unfortunate event which is the sexual abuse of children, and they can stop this relationship immediately.
Second, parents who secretly check their children's electronic devices can faster to protect them from drug dealers. Children at a young age are especially susceptible to various environmental influences. The school yard or playground is a meeting place for the kids are from different social backgrounds. A lot of kids to please their friends often reach for the prohibited items including drugs. Children most often contact dealers by various electronic devices. For example, if they need some drugs, then they write in ciphers such as social communicator known only by dealers or they send text messages to them. It is very important for parents to know what friends and what kind of the relationship they have with their children. Parents who secretly monitor their children's phones or emails are easier to catch such a contact, and they can immediately end the threat by contacting the police.
