Eating Disorder

Eating appropriate amount of nutrients is so important for our body and yet so many people do not take this in consideration due to eating disorders. Some of these eating disorders are known as Bulimia nervosa and Anorexia nervosa. These eating disorders can be controlled by a person or either be incontrollable and be caused by psychological issues. The eating disorders are present when a person experiences severe disturbances in eating behavior, such as extreme reduction of food intake or extreme overeating, or feelings of extreme distress or concern about body weight or shape (NIMH). So many things in our society put stress on people to make sure they do not become fat so they change eating habits. Things such as girls in magazine, the ideal guy like David Beckham, afraid to reach obesity, or family history can have an effect on why people have eating disorders.
Bulimia nevrosa is a disorder close to binge-eating except purging fasting, or excessive exercising is followed after a meal. These behaviors compensates for all the food that was ate. Purging consist of vomiting, excessive use of laxatives or diuretics. People who have bulimia can sometimes fall into their normal weight for their age and height. People with bulimia fear gaining weight, want to lose weight desperately, and really unhappy with their body shape and size. Bulimic behavior is usually done secretly since it is usually caused by feelings of disgust and shame.
