EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The earthquake of 8th October 2006 caused serious destructions in PAKISTAN and majorly in the areas of KHYBER PAKHTUN KHWAH. The earthquake that hit PAKISTAN on 0ctober 8, 2005 is arguably the most debilitating natural disasters in the country's history. It left 73,000 people died & 2.8 millions left without shelter, and over a million without income. It damaged 570,00 houses with almost requiring 90% to re-built. More than 1 million people looses their source of income. Number of organizations including local and international are participating with personal and Government rehabilitation plans for the betterment of earthquake victims. Our foundation is one of the local Ngo, which are working for the rehabilitation plans for the earthquake victims in the area of the BALAKOT. Analyzing the current situation occurred after the earthquake and the problems which they are facing. Our Ngo has start initiative to start working in the area of BALAKOT. After prioritizing the need and urgency of facilities required by the earthquake victims, we decided to construct shelter homes. The project is headed by the project team by the board of directors. Shelter homes project is majorly funded by the NRSP ( National Rural Support Program), CHINA and supported by Government of PAKISTAN. Project is designated under the cross-functional project team under the supervision of professional and experience personnel's, having comprehensive experience of various construction projects.
INTRODUCTION:
PAKISTAN is facing a majorly devastating situation after this earthquake of October 8 2006. It caused almost 73,000 people died according to the official counts. Millions of homes, buildings in thousands of areas had been destroyed. Infrastructure such as Hospitals, medical facilitation centers, Schools, Homes, Roads & Bridges, Water & Sanitation system, Electricity and other essentials of life are majorly disturbed after this.
Government, International agencies(NGO's), Private organizations, individuals and majorly PAK ARMY provided the emergency relief services like food, tents etc to the earthquake victims. Now one of the major problem is to rehabilitate the disturbed people. Rebuild infrastructure and providing health and temporarily shelters and also education facilities and majorly income sources to them.
As this is our academic course "Project Management" , the task to fulfill this report is to work as a project team. Our organization is working and participating it's efforts for the rehabilitation of the earthquake victims and this task assigned to our team by the higher management to design a project plan for the betterment of the earthquake victims.
The further presented report is presenting the project evaluation and completion process and design of shelter homes, which includes various project management tools and techniques.
PHASE 1 PROJECT INITIATION AND SELECTION
Our organization has started it's efforts for the victims of earthquake. Our organizations is funded by the capital to take initiative for the rehabilitation efforts. The board of directors of organizations has given us a task to propose a project for the victims of earthquake who are majorly displaced. The project team assigned by the board of directors is consist of 5 people in which one of us is project manager.
BRAIN STORMING:
Our working has been started as a project team and we decided to conduct a brain storming session for the identification of needs and generating ideas for the welfare of effected people. Most of the areas requires to completely rebuild infrastructure as they are completely destroyed by the earthquake occurred. There are several sectors which need to be rebuild and some of them are hospitals, schools, water & sanitation system, roads & bridges and other essentials of life. After conducting hours of brain storming we have concluded to some of the projects which are listed below.
