Introduction:
The case study deals with the problem Beijing EAP consulting (BEC) Inc. facing regarding the communication between the employees. They want to conduct internal training program to improve communication among employees and to discuss problems in the organization.
Background:
BEC was founded in 2001 as a consulting company, which have seen an enormous growth in employees in year 2007 to 20 which was as low as in between 2001 and 2006. Also, it is the first consulting company to provide employee assistance services which are benefit programs offered by employers.
Most of the employees are highly qualified graduates in psychology, which has given the company the top slot in EAP services in china. Its market share was also high. Many of the Global 500 companies are the customers of BEC.
Opportunities:
* Conducting training sessions to the employees
* Decreasing heavy workload to the employees
* Improving the collaboration and communication between employees
* Developing a good organizational structure
Problems:
* The company has decided to shift the focus from research to business practices and thought of capturing the huge market.
* They bagged a project with a mobile client in china for which the resources are not enough as they have to concentrate on other tasks which they have been working on.
* Lack of skilled labor in that stream with a degree in the market.
* Also have to tackle the increasing competition.
* No clear picture and a formal structure of the Organization from the day it has started.
* Problems with project management and increasing friction between various levels of managers.
Recommendations:
* They should restructure the Organizational hierarchy with predefined duties and responsibilities to employees.
* Have to improve co ordination with different project teams by arranging status meetings regularly.
* Each Project should have enough resources to work on. For that to happen the firm should think for skilled labor globally as they do not have enough resources available. They should encourage the foreign talent with good pay and benefits.
* They should have clear-cut defined targets to reach.
Conclusion:
Developing good communication and organizational skills between employees. Increasing the number of employees in the organization
