Had a dream of what I wanted to become, occupation wise. I either wanted to be the first Filipino president of Canada, be a successful entrepreneur who owned a software company chain or even be an R&B singer. But as I continued educating myself and through volunteering, I realized that none of the occupations I had in mind where right for me. With my passion for helping others out, and seeing priceless faces, I know for a fact now that becoming a doctor, working to find a cure for any sickness or problem is my ideal occupation.

My interest in this occupation came about when I was told that my cousin was struck in a hit-and-run accident in the Philippines. As she was getting out of her car on the way to work, a sport utility vehicle hit her from behind. The crash broke her back, crushed her ribs, collapsed her lungs and broke her collarbone. Recovery took a full year, and since she was paralyzed from the bottom down, the doctor stated that there was only a five percent chance that she'll ever walk again. It warms my heart when I've been told that she is fine now, but trying to get back up, onto her two feet, in hopes of being able to walk again. Though there isn't a way in helping those who are in this same situation as her today, I am determined that by being accepted into the Bachelor of Science program, I can make a change.

Throughout my high school years, I have taken all of the necessary requirements needed in order to be successful in this program. Courses like Chemistry 12 and Biology 12 have given me all of the basic fundamental and valuable information that I need to know. However, by being admitted to UBC, I will be able to take my education up a notch. This will allow me to fully achieve my goals completely. After graduating, I hope to work in a lab and use all of the knowledge and skills that I've learnt to find a cure for problems that don't have treatments today. Aside from this, I hope to create my own foundation someday, inspired by my experience with Amnesty International. My main mission would be to make an end in the ongoing problem of malnutrition of this generation.
