Hey Albert, how have you been? What'd you do for Christmas? Mia said.
UH... not much. I'm doing well. How've you been, how's your family? Albert said.
Well thanks for asking. Um... What are you planning for Christmas? Mia said.
Not much. It sounds like Christmas is no longer a celebration a holiday of uh... faith and spirit. No one talks about going to mass or forgiving or helping out the poor. Everything sounds like BUY! BUY! SELL! SELL! Specials! Deals! Everything is like... Christmas is actually a very commercial holiday it's like Thanksgiving. It became a very commercial holiday as I said because all you would think about is where are you going to shop? What did you buy grandma? What present did you get for grandpa? And so on so forth. But actually, the real spirit of Christmas is no longer on people's mind. Everything is just presents, gifts, uh... food; you know it has changed a lot. I remember when I was a kid Christmas was about Christmas songs, you hear that spirit everywhere. You could hear Christmas songs Santa Claus everywhere kids playing with the snow hanging around having fun. Uh... people used to make cakes and pies for relatives for friends, and neighbors. But that that spirit is like kind of disappearing. What do you think? Albert said.
I don't know. My family and I we just waited for Christmas Eve Christmas Eve dinner. Then, we would open the gifts. You know just go around saying what everyone... Mia said right before being abruptly interrupted by Albert.
There you go you! There you go! You just said it Christmas presents Christmas gifts. Everything turns to be the same. Christmas presents Christmas gifts. What did you buy? What present did you give the mailman? What did you give the garbage collector? You know everything is usually about shopping, spending, eating. Christmas should become a very emotional uh... kind of religious holiday where you could actually celebrate the real spirit of Christmas with faith and very spiritual outgoing celebration. That's what I think Christmas is all about.About celebrating the birth or the arrival of god. Well, I'm Christian I'm catholic so that's what I believe. Maybe other religions, other people think a different way. But to me Christmas should be more spiritual and not much about buying and spending.
True, but by buying and spending you show how you care to some people. I understand your point that no one views it from the religious perspective or the faithful perspective. Because I remember like you were saying when I was a kid we used to go to mass um... Christmas eve mass that was a traditional custom. Then you would hear the carols. The carols were supper common to see and hear all throughout town. You could just look or step outside your door and see carolers throughout the neighborhood.
