There are many plans facing congress for the deficit reduction. Different factors contribute to the way situations are handled. The times that people are living in are crucially contributing to the deficit as well as campaign finance and term of office and reelection pressures. President Obama and Congressman Paul Ryan have presented their plans.
The War on Terror has been going on for nearly 10 years and troops are not located in one central country; troops are in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Apart from that war troops have been sent to Lybia all of which is an expensive task. Spending money the U.S. doesn't have. Obama has created a plan to make a 3-1 ratio on spending cuts to tax increase. It is a conservative approach coming from a liberal Obama. Rising taxes has always been an issue for government but Obama has said that he wants to protect 98 percent of families. the plan is to get 1 trillion dollars from the top 2 percent and cut $3 in spending for every $1. Today there is becoming a widening gap between the poor and upper class leaving the middle class minute. So Obama's plan to protect the lower earning citizens is crucial at a time like now. Paul Ryan's plan was to
end Medicare which people are not pleased about, Medicare should be mended not ended. Ending it would decrease the debt significantly but it would not be passed by the senate.
His GOP Plan promises a $6 trillion slash over the next decade.
A lot of time and money goes into campaign but those costs can be cut or even avoided totally if candidates were to use free media. Speaking in public schools and senior citizens centers can gain the candidate a lot of coverage; a local newspaper would cover it, gaining them publicity. Obama will be running for reelection in 2012
