Disagreeing:

While we are taking into account the story of Cynthia we uncover that, she is a general manager of a health care organization who recently got promoted. And due to this promotion her responsibility also increased and her range of business too. But her inner self wasn’t that confident to handle that much of pressure and she got a bit shaky. One thing needs to be added here is Cynthia as person very transparent from inside and she has an open to the employees kinds of attitude. So she innocently explained her situation to her sub-ordinates and it backfired. She lost her creditability to her employees. But according to me this shouldn’t be happened. Because when a person is sharing his/her inner thought to someone, it creates closeness between them. Adding to that it has been seen in the research that people trust an individual when he/she is genuine and authentic. Along with that I must say confidence is necessary for a leader and Cynthia seemed to be locked on that part. But in some research it has been shown that a leader’s confidence highly depend on his/her support team. And sub-ordinates are one of the most influence members of that support team. So according to me, what Cynthia needed most was a co-operate group of people, who would work as a helping hand of her and there was nothing wrong for Cynthia to be genuine, to be self motivated on to be authentic as a leader. But in case of Jacob who is a Malaysian executive of an auto parts company situation is a bit different. Where he was used to relate a clear chain of command and make decisions by consensus.  But after Dutch acquired the company he found himself working with peers who saw decision making as a freewheeling consent for the best debate ideas. So what he had to do was to sell his ideas. But he was not prepared for this. When an individual is habituated to make a decision collectively, it is difficult for him to cope up with at situation where needs to sell his ideas in a competitive environment. So his surroundings compel him to take a decision of either being take or being failure. And this shouldn’t be the conclusion for the George’s story. What he was doing was taught by his culture and it was his responsibility to respect his culture and properly maintain it. And it is obvious that every culture won’t have the same norm and etiquettes. So what he could do that time is to learn from his real life experience, which can influence his authenticity as well. I am not saying that he needs to imitate what Dutch people are doing. I am saying he can develop himself to a different role without being fake, by practicing his values and principles in a diverse way. May be it could help him not to think himself as a failure or a take.
