1. Brick masons, block masons, and stone masons:

Brick masons, block masons, and stone masons construct buildings, fences and other structures using concrete, blocks or other types of stones. These people must have the knowledge to cut stones and how to stack them, with or without binding material. The challenge of the job varies, for easy to lay sidewalks to high-rises. Jobs opportunities in this field is good, and you can learn on the job or though a 3-4 year appretniceship, if not a vocational school. Masons must year to read blueprints, layout work, sketch, and have knowledge in math. About 27% of masons are self-employed. Masons earn between a starting rate of $13.26 to more than $35.63 an hour, most earning around $21.71 and $23.84.

2. Carpenters:

Carpenters construct, install and repairs the basic structure of a creation made from wood or other materials. They have to have the knowledge to work with blueprints, or supervision; measuring and arranging materials; working with basis and specialized tools and working within the local and federal building codes. There is many different ways to learn these skills, including on-the-job training, college and apprenticeship, all taking between 3 to 4 years. The better the training and skills, the higher job opportunities will be. The work environment is often dangerous. Carpenters have to do many strenuous tasks using many potentially hazardous tools. Carpenters generally work a 40-hour week, as only 7 percent work part-time. 32 percent of carpenters are self-employed. Wages are as follows: nonresidential building construction, approximately $21.08 per hour; building fishing contractors, $19.37; residential building construction, approximately $18.24 per hour; Foundation, structure, and building exterior contractors, $17.67; and employment services, $15.81.

3. Drywall and ceiling tile installers, tapers, plasterers, and stucco masons:

Drywall and ceiling tile installers, tapers, plasterers, and stucco masons build and fasten interior and exterior wallboards or covering in or on a structure for fireproofing, sound reduction or decorative purposes. They must know how to measure, fit and fasten the material they are working with. They must also know how to drill, saw and cut holes in the material to work around outlets or other structures.
