Constitution Timeline
The founding Fathers had a good vision and ideas when writing the Constitution with the idea in mind to ensure that all citizens of the United States were treated equal and fairly. Also, the Constitution was to place guidelines as well as rules this way that no one person and/or government (politicians) have full control. This country is to be for the citizens' where they have a say (voice) in what is taking place as well as it is managed. There are so many details that influenced the Constitution and had a great deal of significance that contributed to our Constitution. I will point out five different Foundations of the United States Constitution, The Magna Carta, The Mayflower Compact, Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation, and Federalist Papers.
The Magna Carta was an English Charter that was originally issued in 1215. The main purpose was to limit the government's authority. The Magna Carta is considered one of the most important documents that have been establishment of democracy; its influence is clearly seen in the Bill of Rights and the United States Constitution. (GCU, 2012) They also represented several ideas, such as in which one is innocent until proven guilty; an individual's rights for them to know the charges that are being filed against the individual, rights of being judged by one's peers before imprisonment, and an individual has the right to be represented by an attorney. The Magna Carta is apparent in the Constitution by limiting of the government authority. Our founding Fathers had a main purpose that was to not allow any one person and/or political group have total control. But, allow the citizens have a say in how things work and are ran.
The Mayflower Compact was issued in 1620. This was the first government document that was passed the settlers agreed to abide by rules of the government. There were two important components; reveals the promise to America as it develops it is to be built on Christian principles and the government of the law; it should not be up to men. It imposes upon the government establish constitutionally equal laws, offices, acts, and constitution, time to time, it should be well thought out mostly for the good of the citizens (people). ("Congressional Digest,") The Mayflower Compact was made possible by the settlers that came over on the Mayflower, they were made to realize that the earlier settlers was not successful it came to help guide the development. Settlers want to be very successful and wanted to be fair to all citizens; this was made possible by treating everyone equal. It also contributed to the Constitution in the Christian faith and that people were treated the same. Without this contribution we as citizens would be treated differently such as the amount of money make, and the color of our skin (race). This helps people have opportunities in this country as well as rules to live and go by.
In 1776 the Declaration of Independence was passed and adapted the resolutions of endorsing independence. It started with the French, and the Indian War, and the British felt it necessary for them to pay for the war. Colonists believed that they should not have to
