The world is constantly changing around us. People have come to realize the importance of literacy. One has to get educated to live a better life. Now, with the dawning of the new millennium, a new age has risen - one we now call the age of the computers.

As we advance into the information age, digital technology only continues to flourish and become progressively more fundamental in our lives. People from all corners of the world are starting to realize the importance of computers. We are now marching into a new era where information technology is simply indispensable. To step into unknown territory, computer is the key. It is thus undeniable that being computer literate is a must. Otherwise, one world feel incapacitated.

Computers are everywhere and more and more nearly everyone who works or wishes to contribute fully within this progressive society is being expected to be computer literate, even just for everyday living.  Even those ordinary people at home using and needing to know how to use computers for such a wide variety of tasks as surfing on internet, communicating using social media sites, shopping online, creating travel planes, research, instant messaging, banking, and paying bills. It has become increasingly important as companies have started to depend upon computerized technology to get work done. Many companies try to use computers and other technology to improve business efficiency. What was first a novel time-saver is now becoming a completely essential tool for an immense quantity of daily jobs not only in the home, but in a progressively more extensive array of workplaces. Knowledge of computers is now mandatory in many jobs.

The computer has made life easy for humans. Knowing how to use a computer often allows us to get work done in a more organized, efficient and timely manner, especially if we perform a job that requires us to use a computer on a frequent or regular basis. Computers feature programs such spreadsheet, word-processing or presentation programs that help us to organize our thoughts, but we need to know how to manipulate these programs to be able to use their features, such as its text or imaging features. If we work with a database, we won’t be able to complete important tasks without computer knowledge. Even if we do manual labor, such a construction or food service job, we may need to use a computer to conduct research on industry or company trends, regulations or news; run a cash register or complete training before starting work.

With the computer, the Internet is made possible. The Internet is a source of knowledge. It can fulfill our every interest. We will be able to search for what we want, be it on health or music or anything. With just a click of the mouse, we are able to improve on what we like. In addition, the Internet provides cheap and fast communication. We are able to send messages instantly after a click to communicate about work-related topics. We can use email or social media sites to be able to leave messages for others to view at a later time or can email memos or documents to large groups of people.  It is so hard to phone someone or write a letter from a few thousand miles away but it is only a piece of cake for the computer user to send it through the Internet. Unknowingly, we become a better-equipped person.
