As a student at Mount Olive College I have two personals goal that I would like to accomplish. My first goal is to complete a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management and secondly, complete each class with no less than a B average. The decision to return to school was not an easy one. With two sons in college and a daughter still in high school, and taking on a considerable financial burden, receiving an average grade would be undesirable to my standards. This paper will outline both a S.W.O. T analysis and SMART goals on completing my Bachelors of Science in Health Care Management and maintaining a B average.

Higher levels of learning bring an achievement of not only personal goals, but also many gain financial opportunities that come with having a degree. Organizations are hiring individuals with educational backgrounds, to benefit their company. Having a high school education in these changing times is not a big enough asset anymore.

How do you make a SMART objective? SMART objectives are simple and quick to learn. All objectives should be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timed. I have outlined my goals and now I am going to show you my SMART objectives to help me influence those goals.

1. Specific -Complete College Degree

2. Measurable - BS in Health Care Management while maintaining a B average

3. Attainable - My employer offers tuition reimbursement that will help alleviate financial difficulties

4. Relevant - Opportunities for advancement at work, more marketable

5. Time-Bound - Completion December 31, 2012

Finding the time to juggle classes, family life, and my job seems to be the hard part. More and more Traditional schools offer many learning opportunities, not only to the young, but also to the working adults looking to move forward with their careers. Many working adults head off to college, hoping to reach personal goals by obtaining a higher level of education. With this goal in mind, many are looking for job opportunities.

Mount Olive College offers working adults the opportunity to finish courses in just 5 weeks. Having such a compressed schedule for completing degrees will make it possible to complete my Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management in as little as 2 years as long as I do not deviate from the program. I have decided to make completing my degree a top priority in my life. I do have other commitments outside of school, which may prove to be a distraction for me, but I must force myself to stay focused on school will be realistic.

S.W.O.T analysis is basic, straightforward model that provides information and direction and serves as a basis for the development of completing a goal. The role of SWOT analysis is to take the information and separate the strength and weaknesses for the opportunities and threats. Once this is completed the SWOT analysis helps determine if the information will assist with accomplishing the goals.

Strengths -

1. Classes fit my life and work schedule,

2. I have a clear understanding of what I am expected to learn in my courses,

3. Classes are related to my life and work goals,

4. The program of study challenge me to reach beyond my knowledge,

5. Instructors respect student opinions and ideas that differ from their own,

6. Advisors are knowledgeable about the requirements for the courses,

7. Processes and procedures for enrolling at MOC are convenient, and

8. A strong family support system.
