Communication Plan
The implementation of a strategic plan for any organization is instrumental in the facilitation of growth and success. In order for the organizational strategic plan to be successful, it must communicate the need for everyone's involvement. The communication phase is one of the most important plans that we will be developing and monitoring. As we move from development phase to implementation phase of the organizational strategic plan, there is a need for open dialogue so that all departments can freely express opinions about improvements and corrective measures. We have broken our communication plan into these categories: Who, Why, What, When, and How.
The communication of the strategic plan for any organization is very important to its overall success. For it to be completely successful and for the managers to know the organization is headed in the right direction it must be communicated to everyone timely and effectively. Among the people who the strategic plan should be communicated to range from the highest level management all the way down to the lowest level consumer. This would include stake holders, managers, employees, customers, non-customers, investors, vendors, media and lead referrers. Once the organization determines who they are communication the strategic plan to, then they will determine why they want to communicate the strategic plan to that audience and the best way of doing so.
A frequent mistake that organizations make is understanding why the strategic plan has to be communicated to others and why it has to be communicated to everyone besides who they want to communicate it to. The 80/20 principle says that 20% of your customers create 80% of your revenues. If you could spend 80% of your time developing profitable relationships with those 20%, would you (C2 Communications, LLC, n.d.)? For organizations who wish to be successful and grow will answer yes. Remaining in good standing with the customers, stake holders, vendors, employees, or any other group involved with the organization is why the strategic plans should be communicated effectively to everyone. The main reason why the strategic plan should be communicated to everyone is to ensure that all involved are on the same track and understand how to achieve the visions and goals of the organization.
The strategic plan communication will begin by giving the employees an overview of the mission statement, vision statement, and the values within the company. Then, the strategic plan will be discussed in detail among four different categories: financial, growth, operational excellence, and the building organizational capabilities of the company. Each sector will define goals which will be measured on a regular basis to ensure the company is growing in the right direction. By defining the measurements, the company will be able to understand which areas are excelling and the areas of the company which need improvement.
