The quickest way to inform the staff of what happen and provide them with the new information would be by e-mail as well. This low channel richness would be straightforward with little confusion and broader reach to get the information out to the staff at the simultaneous (Robbins & Judge, 2011)
Last in Scenario 3, the best communication channel is downward communication by calling the entire staff to a meeting. The reason this is the best channel to express the verbal and nonverbal communications to the staff is that they will be able to comprehend the downsizing and empathize, possibly causing some staff to resign voluntarily allowing others the chance to stay. "Evidence clearly indicates, though, that explanations increase employee commitment and support of decision" (Robbins & Judge, 2011, p. 4). If that does not occur those affected by the layoff will be notify by e-mail for a face-to-face meeting. The reason this is the best channel is it allow those to express their regret with the owner.
