1. What are the advantages of Clif Bar's culture? Do Bradt's suggestions on "winning culture" apply here? How?
The advantages of Clif Bar's culture are that the people that work for them will stay in shape and have a better attitude toward the company. There are a lot of perks that they get in working for the company they get a lot of work out opportunities, camp outs, longer brakes, and company get together. Some advantages of are also to spend time with not only their families but also the people that they work with. Bradt's suggestions do apply here because their co-workers surround them by doing team-building exercises. The best thing about that is that they are really doing this without the idea that they are being forced to do it, because they are doing it on their own time. This is helping out in the work place because employees are coming to work in better moods for the days work.
2. How does the "culture" fit into Job design theories?
Some of the theories that we are going to address are what motivates people to work, significant characteristics of a job, and job design alternatives.
The thing that Motivates people to work on a job is that people want to feel like they are part of something bigger and better then just what they do. They are also motivated by when managers and co-workers care about them and their family. These are being done at Clif Bar by all of the benefits that are given there.
Significant characteristics of the job are that the employees get a chance to take out any type of frustration that they may have built up during the day. The best thing is that while taking out frustration they are also putting these efforts into something that is good for them.
Job design alternatives are big for the company because the design that they have in place now is very good for them because they are getting many different types of people wanting to work there. Employees are seeing the great working atmosphere that Clif Bar is offering and it is drawing them in.
3. Knowing that organizations employ diverse group of people, does this culture fit the needs of all groups- women, men, older generation, X and Y Generation, different ethnic groups? What could the organization do to accommodate these differences?
At Clif Bar they pretty much hit all the different groups of people. All ages and races would have something that they could take part of in their culture. There are so many thing that they can offer, you know if you are of the older generation you don't have to climb the rock wall you can always do a spinning class.
