Cirque de Soleil
Cirque de Soleil is a tradition of the original circus. It has brought back circus activities that have been lost and forgotten for years. Guy Liliberte was the creator of Cirque de Soleil. He originally took a group of jugglers and fire breathers to a grander scale. Liliberte started Cirque de Soleil in 1984 with a group of circus and street performers that was meant to celebrate the 450th anniversary of a Frenchman coming to the United States. In 1987, Cirque de Soleil was given the opportunity to open the Los Angeles arts festival. Cirque de Soleil now has 9 different venues worldwide, the most famous perhaps being in Las Vegas located in the Bellagio hotel. Liliberte was a smart businessman. The same time many businesses were expanding on a global level, Liliberte was expanding his show. The Cold War was over and international trade barriers were being dropped. Companies like Cirque de Soleil found it much easier to enter international markets.
Cirque de Soleil faces many challenges to put on the show worldwide. This production is not just here in the United States but all over the globe. So obviously the company has to search all over the globe for talented individuals that are willing to perform in their show. Their show is so diverse in the aspect that it includes many different talents and skills. They have to find contortionists, skilled scuba divers, former Olympians, etc. and not only do these people need to be talented at what they do, they must have a certain theatrical flair.
Another challenge that Cirque de Soleil faces that most other international companies do not have to worry about is the health and welfare of their employees. Cirque de Soleil has to make sure that every one of their employees is maintaining a healthy diet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The company has to deal with the food their employees are eating, their housing, the language barriers between the employees, and then of course home sickness. Their employees are from all over the world so they don't all speak the same language, and some employees begin to miss their home which in turn affects their performance.
I believe that Cirque de Soleil is doing a great job conducting business in the global arena. They have expanded to nine different locations around the world and they have so many different nations represented in their employee workforce. I believe they export to the international locations they are serving because it represents the many countries that their employees are from. Cirque de Soleil has many employees from the certain countries that they are performing in. One thing I believe that they could possibly improve on is expanding even more and having more shows all over the globe. Their show is very popular and they could be even more profitable than they are right now by simply starting more shows in new countries worldwide. Over all I believe that Cirque de
