The duty to die v. burdensomeness of living
The article is about John Hardwig argument the right to die. John Hardwig, "believes that the duty to die is relatively widespread among those with burdensome illnesses, dependencies, or medical condition." He also believes that those illnesses impose unfair burdens upon others, by continuing to live. He backs his facts up by using, the financial burden that, technological and medical care put on the family members, of the chronic illnesses or conditions the treatment cost. Professor Hardwig believes that the burdensome illnesses personnel have the duty to die.
I am pro life and spiritually I believe that no one has the right to die, unnatural. The author believes that it is a burden on the family member who has to care for the love ones with chronic illnesses. One of the logical fallacies is that a chronically ill person is a burden on all loves ones who has to care for a chronically ill person. Also the author state that it is widespread among those with burdensome illnesses, I ask how many people he survived. My argument with Professor John Hardwig article is that the Oregon department of human services or the Oregon Death with Dignity Act, states "terminally ill Oregon residents are able to obtain and use lethal prescriptions of medication from their physicians provided that the medication is self administered and the patient and physician complete the appropriate steps delineated by the act. The key facts in the (ODDA) are the patient is required to be able to communicate health care decisions. Professor Hardwig has a degree in philosophy, he retire from the department of philosophy at the University of Tennessee.
