Change Proposal
In the world of business there are always changes in one form or another. Kudler Fine Food's has many departments that could benefit from some type of change, but this report will highlight a proposal for a change in the sales department. The information provided will explain the need for the change and the important opportunities it will provide. The explanation of change and how they apply to this situation will also be provided as well as a summary of how the project management approach is appropriate for managing this type of change. To finalize the report the Return on Investment (ROI) expected in return from the proposed change will be explained.
Change
Kudler Fine Food's seems to be struggling currently in the sales department with specific items and the interest in the wine appreciation classes and could benefit from a modification to help shine the spot light on these products and services. A change such as a modification program when done correctly has the potential to help the wine classes improve attendance number as well as help promote the products. Implementing the modification program will provide information to upper-management about the changes and allows for ease of control with the changes while keeping those involved well informed. To set the change in motion the starting point for Kudler is to present the idea to upper-management for review and approval Apollo Group Inc., 2011).
Kudler Fine Food's upper-management is seeking ways to increase sales in the wine appreciation classes and other departments such as sales. The use of a modification program will offer suggestions in working toward meeting sales goals and increasing revenue. One big step is to educate the employees about the wine appreciation classes so they all understand what the class is about and allow each employee to attend the class to speak about it from experience. Being able to speak from experience will make it easier for the employees to display promotions more confidently as well as make them more willing to promote the products and services. Another big step would be to offer additional training to ensure all employees have a good educational background of the products including the past products for comparisons. Also there should be training on the classes to ensure a full knowledge of all areas. Another area the modification will be beneficial for Kudler is a bonus program for selling above company goals monthly to motivate employees to increase sales performance (Leban and Stone, 2008).
Four Dimensions
The four dimensions of change management that apply to the request for a modification program are coordination, proficiency, devotion, and interaction. These dimensions are crucial to Kudler's success with the modification program and the proposal of necessary changes. To prevent negative reactions from the company employees and customers there are a few things that Kudler must consider when determining change. It is necessary to determine the amount of resources these changes will require, how employees will react to the changes, devotion to making such changes, and which employees are able with enough skills to manage the changes. To be sure everyone's best interest is kept in mind the company will need to have meetings and conferences with all the employees. Doing this will allow for feedback in regard to the modification program as well as help keep up the good company moral and hopefully eliminate the feeling of not being included in the company decision and implementation of the change.
