Question 1 (Organizing)
You are directed by your company to submit a memorandum on opening up of a branch
in which you will be the head. The memorandum should include, but not limited to, the
following:-
a. Responsibility, authority and job description of the branch manager
b. Organization structure of the branch
c. The extent of the authority of the branch on matters delegated to it like
finance and human resource management
d. HQ/Branch relations and periodical reporting

Answer
The branch is under HQ where all power and authority belong. However, the branch
should have limited autonomy or delegated to it. For example, policies on human
resource like entry qualification, compensation and benefits are decide by HQ but
recruitment for lower level positions is delegated to the branch. So are financial policies
and procedures but the branch is given authority to a certain sum for purchase,
procurement and contract. The manager is given authority and job description to operate

the branch. However, there is always close relationship with HQ, consultation and
periodical reporting on major functions
Question 2 (Leadership)
Analyse the leadership of a corporate national personality of your choice which should
include, but not limited to the following:
a. Use of power
b. Leader-subordinate relationship
c. Strategies to achieve mission
Cite relevant leadership theories.
ANSWER :
The analysis should be through trait and situational theories of leadership. Trait
characteristics are his education, IQ and EQ, social standing, drive and integrity.
Situational leadership is a unique combination of leaders, followers, and leadership
