Bullying.
Bullying is a disgusting, terrible, horrid habit to have. I feel like if you want to say something to somebody, keep it to yourself. Those short words you said to that person, could cause them to commit suicide, hurt themselves, and feel insecure. Why bully someone? Do you feel insecure about yourself? Are you having problems at home? Well that's no excuse. The smallest thing could become a lot bigger in the world of bullying, and not enough people realize the little things. Not enough people realize that the words they say leave scars that last a lifetime. Not always physically, but emotionally too.
How would you feel, if the boy you called fat in homeroom today, didn't show up to school the next day, because he committed suicide? How do you think you would feel knowing YOU were the reason a perfect human being killed himself? Suicide isn't uncommon, in fact it happens a lot more than you might think. Suicide is the third leading cause of death among teenagers, resulting in about 4,400 deaths per year. For every suicide among teenagers, there are at least 100 suicide attempts. Over 14 percent of high school students have considered suicide, and almost 7 percent have attempted it. Do you want to be known as the horrible person who caused a young boy to kill himself? What would you do, if your son came home from his first day of school in tears, "Daddy, Mommy, the kids at school don't like me. They're teasing me." What would you do if that same boy came home every day up until his Junior year in High School, and didn't say anything to you. You go upstairs one night to get him for dinner, and he's lying on his bed, unconscious. Remember, when you bully someone, that's some body's son or daughter.
People, who have never been bullied, tend to think that getting over cruel words is easy. Standing up for yourself should be easy. Although, would they know how it feels? How it feels to go home every day crying, to wake up every morning, look in the mirror and ask yourself why the kids at school don't like you? No, they wouldn't. Though it's expected, because if you've never been put through that kind of pain, than how would you know what it feels like? Bullies don't realize that the little things they say to someone could potentially end up being a lot more than a "joke". They don't think before they speak, and that's not acceptable. Back in 2010, Harry Potter star, Daniel Radcliffe, took a stand against bullying. "These young people were bullied and tormented by people that should have been their friends. We have a responsibility to be better to each other, and accept each other's differences regardless
