LinkedIn is like any other social media sites expect that it connects you through professional connections. The site using business profile to connect people you work with; have worked with in the past or attending college with. LinkedIn also uses professional links to connect to potential employers and current or former employees. LinkedIn is like any other social site just for professionals, I like that I can keep a work profile and a fun profile for friends and family.

I found three websites that hire and employ human service workers in the state of Louisiana. The department of family services which requires a bachelor's degree to work for any of its social service agencies. The DSS is the largest employer of people with a bachelor's degree or higher in the state of Louisiana. While this agency has nonprofit and for profit organizations under its umbrella, I would like to start my career off with this agency. Seeing the agency on LinkedIn makes it seem like the networking with this agency is easy and makes connecting with employees to get a feel for the agency.

With the state of Louisiana, there are 285 employees that are employed in various agencies in the state. I did not see any new job openings with this agency and it does not give any idea of when any openings will become available. This professional link can help with knowing what the job expects, and how those needs can be meet. There was not much information besides that to help someone just graduating from college and looking to work for one of these agencies. The agency does not give any information about upcoming seminars or meeting that can help a new graduate.

When thinking about technology and this agency, I don't think they have used much technology to the agency's advantage. I know the agency has an IT department but they seem behind the times as far as updating information to potential employees.

The next company that employs human service workers is the Kingsley House, which has a center for children and the elderly. Kingsley House uses human service workers to assist with the needs of infants and children all the way to senior citizens. This company has many different agencies under its umbrella as well and they all employ human service workers. The agency has thirty employees on LinkedIn, and has more information than the previous agency. Kingsley House lists all job openings and also tells clients how they can volunteer and also donate money to the agency.
